Day 453: How to Stop Creating Corruption and Criminals

I live in Italy, unfortunately -I wish to add.

For many years I felt this country like a suffocating weight I had to carry, a cage of rules and laws that made even breathing difficult and sometimes I wonder how do we keep our sanity, ah yes, we don’t so much lately, we have people committing suicides at an unprecedented rate, an austerity that doesn’t allow many to get to the end of the month, a church that says its duty is not to care for the poor but to evangelize and give sacraments BUT we have the freedom of porn, cheap high street fashion and soccer. Yeahy to that.

It makes for a grim picture for the future of our young ones, especially when the eldest insist that ‘at their times, because they tried harder, they would always find a job. Bullocks.
Those were other times, another world, other opportunities.

We have 1000 small enterprises closing each day, actually those were the number in 2013, now some say it’s 1600, which is commendable on a 69.000.000 inhabitants figure.

Last night I watched a political show that talked about how difficult it is to have a company in Italy, to be an entrepreneur, which is odd if you think that entrepreneurship in a country suffocated by unemployment should be encouraged in any possible ways, instead we keep legislating, we keep creating laws, commas, addendums, restrictions to the movement of our unparalleled ingenuity born out of sheer survival.
This can explain why Italians do so well abroad, anything we face abroad is EASY compared to what we have to face at home, you lift the weight and we float effortlessly.

In this talk-show a woman said that she moved to Cambridge to follow her daughter and she discovered that the employment office actually works! She was helped to write a CV and to find a job, which she did in no time, it is in the interest of any community to have employed people in a world where our living is tied into working, is it not?

Instead in Italy we are firing people from Government positions by the truckload, citing this system-created austerity on steroids, now people who go on strike are fired on the spot, we are witnessing the removal of the basic working class rights to state that we do not agree with exploitation, the new rule is either you accept to be exploited or you are jobless – and jobless in Italy means going to the church for warm meals and a shelter, which is granted on a first come first served basis.

The woman who moved to Cambridge said she will die there and wants to be buried there because Italy gave her nothing, never, not even when her spouse died and she was hunted down for her debts that she asked to put on hold until she got back on her feet. She said she must have been born in Italy by mistake, so have I, I thought many times.

The point that really left me flabbergasted watching this talk show was when they moved on to the proven relationships between Laws and Corruption – and found out that the higher the number of Laws in a country the higher the corruption, the lack of transparency, the dysfunction.

The comparison made was again between England and Italy, we rank 69 in the Corruption Perception Chart and jolly come in after Rwanda, Namibia and Ghana, England ranks 14.
A professor at Cambridge, an Italian who had lived there for 25 years, said that it is now proven that the more a Government acts in distrust of their citizens, the more it is reciprocated in kind, so, as the government burdens us with useless laws, rules and regulation that it’s impossible to carry out and live – we cheat, evade taxes and lie, we are just playing out the script written for us by those that don’t even trust themselves (and ain’t them right about it?).

The English Parliament issues 500 new laws a year that make sense, we issue 2000 that don’t, in the UK there are 3000 laws to abide by, in Italy 150.000, to open a hairdresser shop in Italy – 84 bureaucratic steps are required, our taxation equals the one in Denmark but we have no benefits for obliging, so what is the recipe I am describing here? The recipe to create criminals and corruption.

We have more lawyers than the USA, because our laws are cryptic and they have to be interpreted on a case by case basis, they are in fact ad personam laws, where the idea that the law is Equal for everybody is not even contemplated, it would just be too funny to even teach it to children, our justice system is lagging behind a good 10 years at least with commercial proceedings and we are guilty until we can prove that we are not- what kind of citizens can such terrain cultivate?

Liars, cheaters, tax evaders and ultimately criminals (and proud to be) mostly because we can’t even understand what we are supposed to do, many young ones that have managed to secure an European grant for a project left Italy and took their project elsewhere because they became exhausted with the never-ending idiotic bureaucratic requests, such as providing documents dated 2 centuries ago that no longer exist to prove the original structure of an old property, or other oddities of the kind.

The Law has been created for the purpose of protecting private interests and in Italy we have expanded this definition from private properties to the private interests of Notaries, solicitors, barristers, public employees, politicians, many wheels that need oiling to move the machine to make things happen and that oiling translates in Money and hence into Corruption and into Injustice because if you don’t have the Money to move the wheel, you are stuck, your ideas, your potential contribution to a better society is worthless without the bribe required to make it real.
The more mazes of laws to unravel, the more opportunities for corruption.

So, to sort out our corruption we need lean, just Legal systems whose laws are clearly understood and applied to all indiscriminately, we need a social contract, we need to create a state that trusts that the members of an Equal society do their best to comply, if they make it possible, because we all agree that social interactions need to be regulated for a functional society, look at what Chavez did by printing the Constitution on packets of flours and rice, he involved the population in their rights and not only in their duties, we need to build a new state of mind that creates a new State of Being that works for all and not just for the elected that manage the system to the detriment of everyone else.

We could revert the legal system to just 1 Law: Don’t do to others what you don’t want done to you – imagine this, the simplicity of it, anyone standing for something that doesn’t support the Life of All, the life of another like his own – will have to take a leave from public office, which at the moment would leave the Italian Parliament empty but that is not a dire alternative to what we are living at the moment, if that happened we could restructure the system putting the wellbeing of everyone on the same line – if a wage cut is applied indiscriminately to all, there will be no wage cuts, if healthcare coverage is given to all or taken away from the privileged one, we’ll have national health coverage.

Unfortunately, by design, we don’t have TIME to rethink this world and this is another reason why we need a Living Income Guaranteed, many are purposefully enslaved from 9 to 5 if not longer, on a daily basis to earn a Living that should be granted to All, many don’t have the time, the strength, the clarity to ponder about the state of our world and the things that really need to be sorted out, we need TIME, a living income guarantee is FREE Time, a free Life with no strings attached in exchange for active participation, it will give us that buffer to take a breath, to come out of the mud in which we have been buried and buried ourselves to look around and decide – is this the world I want to live in?

Because if it’s not, we can stand together and change it, we are the majority, the users of the system that never thought they are already the Administrators through the choices they make on a daily basis, the market force, what gives value to the money system, we are IT, if we get this we can change the way things are working now and start administering the wealth of the world differently, better, including all parts and all needs equally, a Living Income Guaranteed is our chance to better ourselves, to become the people we thought we could be when we were young and idealists, it’s not too late, it just requires for us to come together and agree on the changes that will have to be implemented to change the world and make it an honorable, Life supporting place, For All.

Some pettiness will have to be given up in the process, some honesty is required to see how we have carelessly -but equally- participated so far, our MEMEME mentality will have to make space to move little ME into a big WE, this could start with a Life Giving Proposal that includes all -as equally worthy of it.

Living Income Guaranteed – not a dream, not a hype, it’s a Plan – check it out.

Day 451: The Best Healthcare? Only possible with a Living Income Guaranteed

I would like to talk about the 3rd leading cause of Death in the United states, Iatrogenic Disease, also known as ‘medical malpractice’ and the state of our Healthcare system, taking the USA as a -bad- example.

Here some extracts from articles about it:

Medical Mistakes Often UnreportedDetroit News

Based on a recent report by the Institute of Medicine, which estimates 36 error-related hospital deaths per 100,000 people, 3,534 Michiganians died last year due to medical mistakes.

Patients reported 2,027 complaints about health care organizations to the state, but Tom Lindsay, director of the Michigan Bureau of Health Services, said those likely represent just a fraction of the mistakes.

Medical MistakesNew York Times

The NEW YORK TIMES reported that 5% of people admitted to hospitals, or about 1.8 million people per year, in the U.S. pick up an infection while there. Such infections are called “iatrogenic” — meaning “induced by a physician,” or, more loosely, “caused by medical care.”

Iatrogenic infections are directly responsible for 20,000 deaths among hospital patients in the U.S. each year, and they contribute to an additional 70,000 deaths, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control CDC). The dollar cost of iatrogenic infections is $4.5 billion, according to the CDC.

National Patient Safety Foundation

A new poll from the nonprofit National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) finds that 42 percent of people say they’ve been affected by physician errors, either directly or through a friend or relative.

If the survey of roughly 1,500 people accurately represents the general public, it could mean that more than 100 million Americans have experience with medical mistakes.

More alarming, according to the survey, is the fact that in one out of three cases the error permanently harmed the patient’s health.

Dr. Leape is a board member of the NPSF, which was founded by the American Medical Association in June of this year to improve health care safety.

AMA leaders say it’s time to bring the issue out into the open, rather than living in constant fear that any admission of error will launch a flood of malpractice lawsuits.

Leape’s own research has shown that the tally of medical mistakes made each year could reach 3 million, with total costs as high as $200 billion.

The survey found that 40 percent of the people who had experienced a medical mistake pointed to misdiagnoses and wrong treatments as the problem. Medication errors accounted for 28 percent of mistakes.

And 22 percent of respondents reported slip-ups during medical procedures.

Half of the errors occurred in hospitals, and 22 percent in doctors’ offices.

“It’s really a joke to worry about the occasional plane that goes down when we have thousands of people who are killed in hospitals every year.” Brook’s recognition of the extent of hospital errors is shared by many of medicine’s leaders.

Care — not treatment — is the answer. Drugs, surgery and hospitals become increasingly dangerous for chronic disease cases. Facilitating the God-given healing capacity by improving the diet, exercise, and lifestyle is the key.

Effective interventions for the underlying emotional and spiritual wounding behind most chronic disease is critical for the reinvention of our medical paradigm. These numbers suggest that reinvention of our medical paradigm is called for.

I would like to say that not all doctors are butchers, in Italy, a candid repented Mafia man exposed the story of when he sat at university as a ‘professor’ to grant some a degree in medicine as a favour to their families, my guess would be those would not make the best physicians having hardly seen a biology book in their lives, but there are many dedicated doctors who understand and embrace the principle of ‘do no harm’ -which given the statistics would be a good start- and who really want to make a difference in people’s lives.

Often times these doctors find themselves in the impossible position against big systems and corporations, unable to move out of accepted medical para-dimes for profit, feeling trapped and discontented with the system the way it is and unable to change it, unable to step out of it and even unable to expose it, in fear for their survival.

Take Homeopathy for example, the medicines are very cheap, highly affordable, I have been reading blogs of Indian homeopaths that cure people in the Mac Giver’s fashion, testing simple remedies and maximizing what they have to alleviate suffering, exchanging ideas, treatments, creating effective webs of support for those that can’t even afford to be killed by traditional medicine. All this without moving money.

And what do we do with them? We deride them, we call them insane, tell them about their ‘sweet pill’ that will not solve anything, we publish articles to denigrate their studies and turn them into nutcases, dismissing our chances to understand more about our personalities and the role they play in our health – did you know for example that some people with multiple personalities disorder had severe allergies to a specific food only when ’embodying’ one specific personality and not others? This alone should make us rethink the way we approach healthcare, aren’t we all ‘multiple personality’ people?
We could humble ourselves for once and admit the truth, which is that we know little about how the body works holistically and we need all the help we can find to work it out.

Take this Wikipedia reference to Homeopathy for disinformation

Continued homeopathic practice, despite the evidence that it does not work, has been criticized as unethical because it increases the suffering of patients by discouraging the use of real medicine, with the World Health Organisation warning against using homeopathy to try to treat severe diseases such as HIV and malaria. The continued practice, despite a lack of evidence of efficacy, has led to homeopathy being characterized within the scientific and medical communities as nonsense, quackery, or a sham.

The British House of Commons Science and Technology Committee has stated: “In our view, the systematic reviews and meta-analyses conclusively demonstrate that homeopathic products perform no better than placebos. The Government shares our interpretation of the evidence.

I have actually had exceptional personal experiences with Homeopathy, so not only I cannot support this claim about its inefficacy but I want to point out that statements like these only expose the system we have created, a profit-making machine with no concern for life and the well-being of all.

Hasn’t the establishment’ been trying to treat HIV unsuccessfully for decades? SO why don’t we find this mentioned or iatrogenic disease, as the third leading cause of death in the USA alone, under ‘Medicine’?

Why don’t we find information about the Queen of England and other Royals using Homeopathy – is she dumb? Uninformed? Didn’t she get the memo from the house of Lords about Homeopathy NOT performing better than placebos? Mysteries of the world we live in.

While I read many many pages on homeopathy to understand better its principles  I found a very telling quote that I wish to share

Usually in homeopathy one gets cases that have “tried everything else”. One of the contributory factors to the problem is the demand by the public that unpleasant discharges of whatever nature are immediately suppressed. Antibiotics do this, but as Prof. J.T.Kent points out on p909 of his lectures

“… The great mischief done by allopaths is due to the fact that they want to cover up everything that is in the economy.
They act as if ashamed of everything in the human race: whereas homeopathy endeavors to reveal everything in the human race and to antidote those drugs that cover up, and to free those diseases that are held down. It is true that many patients will not have homeopathy because they do not want the evidences of their indiscretion brought to light, but homeopathy endeavors to do that. Conditions that are in the economy will come out under proper homeopathic treatment.

There you go, the Secret about Why homeopathy is not even wanted to be considered in an unbiased way, not even considering the remarkable success on the cases that Allopathic medicine could not treat.

To be succesful in treating someone with homeopathy, a lot of very personal details are collected, one’s relationship to oneself, to one own’s mind, to others, to sexuality, dreams, food preferences, sleep patterns, it takes a degree of self honesty to be able to bring everything to the table to seek for a remedy because homeopathic remedies are specific, truly detailed archetypes of our personalities at play – and some are very nasty, who wants to say ‘yes, I am like that at the moment’?

So, the reason why homeopathy has not performed as well as it could have in our testing, rests in one of our greatest mistakes, our lack of self honesty, our lack of accountability for who we have become so much so that we would miss out on the opportunity for physical support if able to keep the masks on. Who wants to say ‘yes I am selfish, jealous, have dreams of killing people or raping them?’ Who wants to be ‘that kind of person’ – even when they are?

Incidentally, as I looked through hundreds of remedy I stumbled on the ‘Personality’ of one of my clients, it was astonishing and humbling to read, it made me realize that I had judged her as not wanting to ‘snap out of it’ when in fact some of our personalities really end up becoming pathological, the person no longer has the capacity to snap out of what has been created and embodied through time, hence, when we are tempted to judge someone we should stop and remind ourselves there are so many layers to this existence we are not aware of and that many diseases are just patterns playing out – it would help to see we are not dealing with evil people  but with evil patterns handed down from GENErations to GENEration – that are now embodied in people, in all of us.

To be able to rewrite our healthcare system in a way that considers more layers of what a ‘healthy human’ should function like, we need the freedom to do so.

For sure homeopathy will not hold all answers, nor is allopathic medicine completely dumb and yet we will never know what works best unless we un-link medicine from profit-making and return it to a noble practice of CARE first and foremost.

In this a Living Income Guaranteed will be our greatest ally, many would make different choices if they could, if we didn’t fault everything that we can’t see how to monetize, like homeopathy, we would be better off for that, we could take the best out of each practice and we could guarantee that our doctors, those truly devoted to the well-being of others, would have the freedom to move, to choose, to expose what doesn’t work and drive it to a solution, because their lives wouldn’t be on the line and that is when our expansion into taking care of others take place. We have to move our doctors beyond survival to reap the benefits of their abilities, their unbiased studies and concern for humanity.

If you have been looking at ways to change out healthcare system, consider a #livingincomeguaranteed, we could guarantee that each doctor has their life given back, free of charges, guaranteed, and we give ourselves and each other a life as a given, not as a struggle or as a debt or as a bond, then fixing the nuts and bolts of the matter will be an easy task that we can accomplish in one lifetime.

Join the discussion, share, care, let’s rethink this world to make it work for all.
It’s possible and it’s up to us to decide if we want to support Life or Death – in between there is nothing left.

Day 443: Swapping Religious Beliefs – Just for One day.

Where Do We Go Now? tells the story of a remote, isolated unnamed Lebanese village inhabited by both Muslims and Christians. The village is surrounded by land mines and only reachable by a small bridge. As civil strife engulfed the country, the women in the village learn of this fact and try, by various means and to varying success, to keep their men in the dark, sabotaging the village radio, then destroying the village TV.

The village is slowly drawn into greater violence; but the women get along beautifully and conspire together to keep their men from fighting.

__________________

I have really liked this movie and I suggest watching it.

The movie showed many interesting perspectives for me, such as our potential to get along, our irrational inability to resist fighting each other when we perceive our beliefs are threatened and what stirs our hearts to fight, it addresses group behaviors and how we seem to not be able to refrain from joining in when ‘our people’ decide that fighting is required to preserve the Egoic identity of the Group.

Women are portrayed as exceptionally lenient and opposed to fighting at their very core, I know this to not be true, we have had women in power such as Golda Meyer or Margaret Thatcher who supported wars just like men, so maybe, we would like to think that the alleged gentleness of women could save us but we know from history that we cannot rely on that alone.

I hate to give the plot away so I suggest to take the time to watch the movie  and consider this question ‘could we swap religious beliefs for just one day?’, meaning, can we put ourselves in other people’s shoes understanding that they are the product of their birth and environment and that what they believe is not less weird -or funny- than what we believe, in the eyes of others, and could we let go of the beliefs that we realize can become our alibis, our excuses to set in motion our inner vicious nature and if so, what would it take for us to consider that?

For example, I was born a Catholic not through a fault of any kind, nor a merit according to some, I just happened to be born in Italy, if I were born in Asia I would be a Buddhist or a Taoist, if in India a Hindu or a Christian and in the Middle East a Jew or a Muslim.

How does this matter in any way? Does this trait make me less human than others with a different religious imprinting?

If I could swap myself with any other religion just for one day, would that diminish me, make me fearful, make me a dubious believer? It would be an interesting experiment to consider even though I might not be the best example at such swapping, having already renounced religion for a more global perception of the world.

Incidentally most countries as I mentioned have at least dual religious beliefs, making them perfect grounds for religious based fights and violence, only in Italy and maybe few other countries we were born with no apparent choice, I only learnt about ‘other religions’ when I was 13 as we did a research for our history teacher. I can only say I was puzzled to discover that there were others in the world believing something else entirely – how was that possible?

If our beliefs about a God are absolute why isn’t everyone agreeing on them, why don’t we hold different beliefs about gravity then? Ah yes, because the property of gravity are real, measurable and always dependable on, gravity doesn’t change with geography or with the observers perspective, gravity just is, something religions can’t even come close to claim for themselves.

If religion is a belief that can’t be equally embraced by all then it’s just a man-made belief, maybe there were reasons for some to fabricate such stories and have them become ‘sacred’ as in non questionable, for sure with a bit of reasoning we should not base our ability to get along on man-made, hence amendable, belief systems, specifically when they are divisive and praise some above others – even when they say they do not.

The only belief that can unite us is a belief in our Equality, in our Equal value, in the Equal mess we find ourselves in and in our Equal ability to contribute to a better world if we so choose, why are we not choosing Life for All over our Beliefs then?

If you can perceive the Equal Value of the Life of All, in all living beings, consider standing up for what can unite us, new Principles to live by, a new recognition that Life is valuable and should be honoured in all, regardless of anyone’s insignificant and ultimately irrelevant, acquired belief systems.

Stand up for a Living Income Guaranteed, nothing to believe, no crosses to carry, no fasting, no mantras, no caste system, just Life above All, equally valuable in all living beings to create a world of peace and brotherhood for All, forever more.

Day 442: Boosting our GDP with Sex, Drugs and RocknRoll

Sex, drugs and smuggling could give Italy’s economy a much-needed economic boost this year, as national statisticians incorporate the country’s underground markets into its calculations.

The Italian National Institute for Statistics said it would include drugs, prostitution and smuggling in its calculation of Italy’s 2014 GDP recalculation, which should help Prime Minister Matteo Renzi achieve his dream of narrowing the country’s deficit to 2.6 percent of the GDP, according to Bloomberg.

“The size of the shadow economy might have surprised some readers if they had seen these estimates two or three years ago,” they wrote. However, the recent Euro crisis “has shone a spotlight on problems in these countries with regard to tax collection and compliance and the problems are more widely known.”

Economists generally consider a “shadow economy” to include any unregistered economic activities that would contribute to the officially calculated gross national product if the activities were recorded. This includes everything from prostitution and arms trafficking to a neighborhood lemonade stand or employee discounts.

In Italy, this kind of activity accounts for roughly 20 percent of its total GDP, but these illegal activities account for roughly 18 percent of the entire European Union economy, according to a study by economists Friedrich Schneider and Colin Williams.

We are having more and more problems with trying to fit our imaginary economics models to reality and this is proven by the questionable, if not laughable, solutions we seek.

The estimate of the shadow economies of the world is always undervalued, who would like to face the fact that our illicit activities in Italy surpass our gross domestic product by double? No one.

And yet, those that have taken the time to really look into our shadow economy and include ALL THE fifty shades of gray of it, could not come up with anything less.

An illicit activity is just one not accounted for, and it is not legal, meaning it doesn’t follow the Law Scheme that we have designed in protection of the wealthy and powerful of the world; at the moment we don’t want to raise any moral question on what is illicit in an immoral world because many of these activities are what is left for some to participate in to Make a Living, aka prostitution, drugs, smuggling etc.

But there is another huge side to our illicit activities made up of bribes and illegal endeavours we are too ashamed or wary to count in, like untaxed profits hidden away in fiscal paradises by privileged corporations or individuals, or like the huge traffic of toxic waste, the sales of weapons to countries we have agreed should not have access to them (such as those that we come together and decide should not be in the dangerous position to defend and protect themselves and that should never by any means pose a threat to us while we threaten them under pretences such as democracy or freedom) and many other government secret programs which, by their very secret nature, cannot expose and account for their spending into the ‘mainstream economy’.

The point that it’s interesting to me about this whole story is that we are seeking to raise our GDP to increase our public spending, which is now tied into a ratio whose threshold seems made of a stonewall that can’t be overtaken, changed or amended in any way by rational people, even in the face of an austerity we can no longer bear.

Maybe it’s because we don’t have ‘rational people’ anywhere at the top -or at the bottom-, the ‘rational’ ones can’t be on top, we can see the random ones that come with common sense, like senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, made to look like loony bins when they attempt to expose some of the gross and unacceptable inequalities of the system we live in, we live in a world where rationality is feared and exposed. Rationality as in what would be best for all is simply abhorred.

This is because those exposures are rare, nonexistent for the most part, so much so that when one comes and ‘tells it like it is’ we almost feel offended – how dare he/she- and start making up names to define him/her, to defile him/her, to make sure we degrade any effort put forward for real change.

Now, this decision to boost our economy with sex, drugs and illicit activities, so we can have access to more funds, is just ridiculous, first because the economy will not increase in size for real but an underwater part of it, already existing and participating at all effects in the money movement, will be taken into account just for the futile purpose of moving numbers on paper, second because we keep forgetting that whatever we are currently subjected to, including amusing economic models which have no connection to reality, all those make belief restrictions have been created by ourselves, all the prisons we are now attempting to escape one way or another are just ideas that have become models and then have become beliefs and we hold the key to change anytime we agree on something else ‘en masse’.

So, if we don’t raise an eyebrow pondering how we are planning to get more access to funds vs just asking that the current ratio limiting us from moving be raised simply because it’s currently not reasonable nor sustainable (while we work on dismantling for good what is obviously not working anyhow, in any way), and do not raise an eyebrow in questioning why if the submerged economy amounts to a declared 20% of our GDP we include only 3% just to get the approval to further spending and not the whole 20% or why not talk about the real 200% and wonder how did we get there in the first place, we have to ask ourselves why can’t we take a leap into the new from our shenanigans as we admit that we are just screwing around with meaningless numbers for the purpose of keeping everything in place as it is.

Many new economics models and proposals are emerging, proposals that consider Life above everything else and economics at its service, as it should always have been, we don’t need to raise imaginary numbers to walk through an imaginary crack in the system, we need to review this system, it’s not working and what we are doing can’t be sustained nor it should.

Seek solutions, ponder new ways we could make this world work, only when we will embrace a new vision we may take the required steps to walk it through to completion, by giving unconditionally what we would like for ourselves, access to a life worth living – for All.

Check out our Living Income Guaranteed Proposal, we can make it real, we were the designers of our outdated and unequal economic models and, as we awaken to the need to include all, we can redesign our world in support of Life, freeing everyone from the dam-nation of imaginary debt and make belief restrictive and inhumane economics. Join us.

Day 377: Swiss Migration and those Italian Rats

As many know Switzerland is one of the few countries with the closest system to a Direct Democracy.

This would be the most auspicable system anywhere in the world, not only allowing citizens to amend existing Laws and proposing new ones but offering/demanding direct participation.

Democracy should be just that in one word – participation, we can’t have democracy and no one participating because then we would have a plutocracy, where those Plutocrats, aka Plutos, since they see themselves (with our permission) as planets around which the whole system must rotate and believe that they can own governments, would do anything they choose to protect their wealth and stance in the system. Oh, but we already have that, we are just brainwashed to believe we are living a democratic reality, go figure.

Now, direct democracy in the hands of those that are run by fears is a very dangerous tool, a group of people can get together and reach the quorum required to ask that a law is put in motion which is exactly what has happened with Switzerland a week ago.

In voting that ended Sunday, the Swiss narrowly passed the referendum that will strictly limit legal immigration and worker visas into the country.  Because Switzerland is not a member of the European Union, they can do as they please, including enforcing strict border controls that will keep anyone else out of the wealthy nation.

The majority of the votes were collected in Ticino, the region that is bordering Italy, much of their campaign was targeted to the Italians, as one can see from the Poster of a well know Swiss Political Party posted above, depicting Italians as hungry thieving Rats having a go at their Iconic holed Cheese.

In matters of justice we have to say that the Swiss never complained about being swamped with foreign illegitimate money, money they have allowed into the country and protected against all odds no matter where or how it got there and yet they don’t seem to want to share their questionable gained wealth with anyone due to the fear that there will not be enough for them to go around.

We should have realized by now that the phenomena of migration is just the Musical Chair Game, the reason people are moving around the world is not for tourism or because they desire to merge with another culture, even less for the want to ‘dilute’ the culture of a country as the Swiss suggested, the moving engine of migration is NEED, people move around the world because they don’t have enough where they come from, they don’t have enough for their families, they don’t have enough to live a fear-free life, they can’t access a proper health-care system or a satisfactory education system, sometimes they can’t even access a violence-free life, so they move around the world looking for more and better living conditions. Can we blame them?

In this instance we can see our own absurdity at play, I have read about countless of suggestions on how to ‘solve’ migration problems, mainly they are all geared on ‘how to keep migrants out’, they are exclusive solutions in which we seek better and more efficient ways to push back, to exclude others from a chance to have a life like the one we believe we are entitled to, the most revolutionary solutions were those aimed at helping migrants in their own country and even though this may sound reasonable, it was nothing but a way to say we didn’t want to share the wealth with those less fortunate and frankly, when some of our governments reached an agreement with Libya, regarding holding aspiring migrants to Europe within their borders, we didn’t care to check HOW they were held against their will, we were too glad they didn’t make it here.

In 2008 Italy and Libya agreed a deal that allows the Italian navy to intercept illegal immigrants and return them to Libya.
The move triggered sharp criticism from the UN’s refugee agency and human rights groups.

Thousands of people each year attempt to cross the Mediterranean from Libya to Italy and many die en route, while those who are caught are taken back to camps in Libya where conditions are appalling.

In the summer of 2008, Italy’s prime minister solved the problem through a wide-ranging deal with Libya’s dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi. The so-called Friendship Treaty included a promise by Libya to stop asylum seekers and migrants getting to Italy. The Libyans were chillingly efficient.

By 2009 Médecins Sans Frontières left Lampedusa because so few migrants were arriving and Human Rights Watch reported that the reception centre once bursting was now empty. The tourists of Lampedusa got their beaches back, no longer blemished by wretched Africans, but the suffering of the migrants did not end. Many of those caught by Libyan police trying to get to Europe were imprisoned or dumped in the desert where many died of thirst or hunger. Libya’s mistreatment of migrants and asylum seekers is well documented by the UNHCR and Human Rights Watch.

This is Tomas story:

“Tomas,” a 24-year-old Eritrean man interviewed in Rome on May 20, gave Human Rights Watch an account of abuse, beatings, a long journey in a packed and airless truck, and ill-treatment in prison:

“The [Libyan] navy forces caught us and took us to … a place called Jawazat. It was an immigration prison. … We were in the same room with 160 others – all in one room. …  We were only allowed to use the toilet once a day. Many people had skin problems.  There was no soap. They gave us water in a jar to drink. Many of us had stomach problems. We had to beg the guards to take sick people to the toilet. …

After two months, they put us with another group of Eritreans – 150 people in all. They put us in a big truck. It was packed with people. There wasn’t room for anyone to sit down. We all remained standing. … We started at 6 a.m., and traveled all day and all the next night. …

When they let us out of the truck, we were in Kufra prison. We spent one week there.  They fed us food only once a day. Only rice. Ramadan was over.  I had already experienced two months of hunger in prison. We were now 800 prisoners crowded in different rooms. We slept on pieces of cardboard. … It was dirty. …”

Tomas said Kufra is Libya’s deportation site and that the guards have an agreement with smugglers, who press the migrants to pay hundreds of dollars to return them to Tripoli. He said he failed in two further attempts to flee Libya, and suffered lasting damage from beatings:

“I was beaten by wood and metal sticks by three guards. They beat me for more than 10 minutes. They called me ‘nigger’ as they beat me. When I fell to the ground, they kicked me. They beat me with a metal stick on my head. I have scars and pain inside my head. I still have pains in my shoulder. The metal sticks were thin, but they did not bend.”

Tomas succeeded in fleeing to Italy on his fourth attempt, where he was granted humanitarian status. The full transcript of his account is available at: http://www.hrw.org/node/83699

Now, as the EU questions the legitimacy of the Swiss vote because even though they don’t belong to the EU, they have existing agreements that are geared to the free movement of the EU goods and people through their country, plus Swiss migrants are themselves all over the world, what should we do to them? Return them to the sender?

The ruling government, the majority of parliament and many business leaders had unsuccessfully campaigned against it, citing the fact that immigration quotas are in violation of nearly every bilateral pact between Switzerland and its European business partners and neighbors.

Switzerland is the clear example of our Schizofrenic society, they were the first to vote for a referendum to pass a legislation that grants a basic income for all, enlightened solution in this time where with unemployment rising we can no longer link living to having to earn it through a job, because then no job would mean ‘no living’ and it should be obviously unacceptable to ask people to die honouring a system that is failing everyone and was created without consideration for the Human Right of Life.
Then on the other hand Switzerland is the first country that has passed a referendum to keep the neighbouring thieving rats off their cheese (?).

Why didn’t they see in the Basic Income as the Solution to the problem of Immigration, why didn’t they see themselves as those that could have led the change in trend, that could have, thanks to their real access to the legislative system, passed a Law everyone could have benefited from as an example of what a civilized society could do for their citizens or were these 2 stances in opposition with each other from start? Was the idea to provide a basic income for all suddenly a point that INCREASED their fears that some who were not worthy Swiss citizens could have benefited from that, how did it go so wrong in their head from such an amazingly advanced starting point?

We must realize that we live in a fear-full world, this is what pushed the Italians to try to limit immigration at the expense of suffering Africans, no matter what happened to them as long as it didn’t happen here, and now the Swiss are saying the same, basically ‘fuck off’ you won’t put your hands on my cheese.

Switzerland is a small country and highly dependent on imports from neighbouring countries, I doubt they could live off their holed cheese and chocolate using their Swiss army knife at the sound of a cuckoo clock, this is Switzerland main production and stance in the world, they are as well the richest bankers of the world and the most devious but we have already proven that no one can eat money and they can only use it as a mean of exchange and even in the face of their limitations their fear was so predominant that they didn’t consider the consequences of the stance they just took, they felt proud for telling like it is, for picturing like it is, do you get it, dirty Italian Rats?
Yes, we do, we have gone that route before you – remember the Gaddafi dirty-deal-, it just did not work.

At the moment immigration is actually a source of wealth in a country, migrants are those who are willing to work longer for a lesser wage, sometimes for a slavery wage, we had a fun movie in which finally Italy was rid of all the migrants overnight just so we could realize that there were no longer maids, care-takers nurses, fruit pickers, farmers, etc.

There are so many sides to migration that we insist to not consider but we should, because if we did we would correct this all problem at its source, which is not ‘in their country of origin’ since they fled it making the statement that life there was no longer possible, but we would correct the system WORLDWIDE in the understanding that we can’t leave pockets of third.ness open to exploitation, we have to instead rise together to consider that as we feel safe and sound within our First World borders, the world is downgrading and Italy with its new migrants wave in exit is showing what is the future ahead, as the chairs in this Musical Game become less and less, more of us will be left standing, and it’s about time, because as we find ourselves standing without having chosen to do so, we may have a better view of the world and of our role in it and take advantage of that standing to never sit down, never crawl down again but stand for all in self-responsibility for a world that works for all, wherever they may be.

Investigate a Living Income Guaranteed, there is enough cheese in this world for everyone unless we insist on wanting some cheese just for ourselves -which is by no means sure we may have tomorrow-  while we gladly leave the holes for everyone else.

A different world is possible, there needn’t be Losers, we can all be Winners together.

Day 366: Less than 1 Euro a Day to save a Child

Image

Christmas is coming.

They say ‘Tis the season to be jolly and the season to be good.
This is why Charities capitalize on this time of the year, they ‘prey’ on those that are getting close to the day when everyone wows to be good, they know we are looking for good things to do to build up our Good Christmas Character.

Yesterday in my mail box there was the letter from my neighbouring church, it was a melancholic letter outlining how much we have lost the spirit of Christmas, how much we forgot about the man who came to remind us what it was all about – it’s about Giving, they reminded us.

It was meant to move us to do just that, Giving, the 2 enclosed envelopes told us to whom, that framed the letter into its real meaning, it was a reminder that we must give to them, in the specific, to those who vow to be the intermediaries between us and God, the trade union between the Earth and the infinite Goodness of the Creator.

The Church in Italy is a Corporation, it would be important to never forget this because then we would reward them based on performance and as far as having brought a solution to this world they just plainly sucked, so there should be no Bonus given in any form at the end of the year, especially not under the guise of giving to help others. Who are those ‘others’ that we are manipulated to believe would be at the receiving end of our charity?  And why those who are in direct contact with God are not asking the Almighty to send some cash, but wait, they are, everyone prays for Money the whole year around, we turn to each other only when the promise of a Divine reward fails us, which lately seems to be just about every-time we ask, ask and it is given apparently was never comprehensive of the money package, if it were we would never have reached this level of Inequality because most people -if not All, everyday, are asking for Money to one god or another.

Now, on our TVs for the past few weeks we had the ad of Action Aid going incessantly, they claim that with less than 1 euro a day we can save a child’s life, they say they have been involved in every developing country for over 20 years, not that we noticed because children are dying in the thousands still every single day, instead what we can see now, with all this freedom of information is that the CEOs of those Charities are taking home in the range of 100.000/year in remuneration, this is from their website

‘ActionAid’s Richard Miller – who earned just under £88,900 last year – was featured in recent media coverage on executive pay because we are a member of the DEC.

We believe it’s important that senior staff are not paid more than is necessary to recruit and retain high quality people and – as many supporters who have met Richard know – his role is demanding and complex. His job is to lead and manage a £60 million-a-year operation to deliver the best possible outcomes for the world’s poorest and most marginalised women, men and children.’

So, if we are to treat Charities for the Corporations they are, why are their CEOs paid close to 10.000 US per month, what is the target they are achieving to be entitled to such wages in a profit driven system?

Their target is NOT to find a solution to the problems of Poverty, if THAT was their target and less than 1 euro a day could save a child, with the money they raise at Action Aid they could save 2 million children a year – for 1 year – and we would have heard about them all year around and not just at Christmas. This of course ONLY if the operation costs of a charity of that size were NIL, which is obviously not the case, because even Charity people must eat and live and that costs Money.

Here is a link to a site called Charity Watch, where they explain the mechanics of what is involved cost wise to run a fund raising operation, the details of each charity are on sale, because we must buy our right to make a wise decision about where to send our charitable money, information in this time and age = money, or we could use our own brain to work out that Corporations that have an operating and marketing costs above 50% of what they raise, are in the Charity Business, if it didn’t make money you would not have so many Charities, so no matter what the claim is, they are selling us a product, they are selling us the immunity for our guilt at having had it easier, better and way above others for no specific reason but just because we got lucky at this Casino Capitalistic System.

If it takes less than 1 euro a day to save a child, why are we not giving it for all the children of the world, why are we not giving to all those that need a Life the chance to get one, why do we trust Corporations to do it on our behalf, is it because they make a good website and line up some feel good words about how useful it would be for the world if we gave some of what we don’t REALLY need to level the field with those that have nothing?

Then, if we consider Charity as a solution, why are we not considering The Solution to Charity instead?

Charity exists because we accept Inequality and abject Injustice in the first place, if we didn’t, everyone would be provided with a Living Income Guaranteed to make sure that they have enough to sustain themselves and their families.

The Equal Life Foundation has drafted such a solution, it’s called a ‘Living Income Guaranteed’, it’s all laid out, it’s a charitable programme because someone has done all the work for free so that you just have to join it, spread the word about it, you just have to consider stopping entertaining fantasies about solving the world problems by giving 30 euros a month, the equivalent to less than 10 lattes at Starbuck, to a good cause, to ensure that some get a chance to live.

This world will change through our direct participation, there will be no remote solutions, no ‘adopting a child at a distance’ that can save the life of 30000 children that die every day of preventable diseases, only a change in the economic structure of the system can do so, and that is the only Charitable choice we can make for Christmas, to grant to all what we claim to have a right for, A Life and that will have to be as close and personal as we can get, one by one standing for an irreversible Change, until it’s done.

Day 365: Berlusconi – Child of a Lesser God

Three days ago Berlusconi has been kicked out from Senate, with immediate effect, due to the final sentence of guilt over his tax evasion trials.

We call his outing ‘decadence’, it’s very appropriate for the fall of Nero, it is just ironic that they would choose this time and this sentence -among the many he had- to toss him out like dirty laundry.

It’s reminiscent of the Al Capone sentence, they finally framed him for a crime he did commit, but come on, he has committed so many that he now, understandably, feels diminished to be succesfully asked to leave for this very minor misdemeanor.

In Italy we have a certified tax evasion of 250 billions euro, we even know where the money is, I know this because if we didn’t know we wouldn’t know HOW MUCH has been hidden out in the world’s fiscal paradises, we must know as well who the money belongs to, not that we really want to know, they are all friends of friends, they are the Lords of the Manor, the imaginary blue blooded people that still hold titles they can use only among themselves, because we have deposed the king after the second world war, so the game was over, we thought, but some games are hard to die.

Our Politics is a disgrace, even the European Parliament takes exception at how we run this country, the only thing we could agree about with Mr. Berlusconi, is that our Justice system sucks.

Even in this last facetious attempt at justice we could easily spot the problem, justice is just a way to manage the system for those that own it, the problem is that we have a country where no one is really in charge and no one is accountable, we have a Political Corporation that rewards it’s Fat Cats Members, no matter which side they play on, with millions of Euros, while those at the bottom starve and can’t make it to the end of the month.

And yet, all that is Legal, it is legal to pay those in parliament 15.000 euros a month for not attending their duties and it is legal to grant golden pensions to those who only have one legislation under their belt, which in Italy may as well mean 6 months of work, for a life pension scheme that can reach 30.000 euro per month and can be doubled for those that served both in the Chamber and in the Senate.

So Mr. Berlusconi outrage is comprehensible, if he were more like Al Capone he would cry to please charge him for the major crimes he has really committed, tax fraud in a country where 250 billions have evaded taxes is like accusing someone to steal candies when everyone is doing it – what’s wrong with it- it’s a bit like when Prof. Aurity denounced the Bank of Italy for crimes against humanity and he was told that, he was ‘in theory’ right, but the fact that this had become customary practice made it impossible to proceed with prosecution. Get that? If they fucked you once and you said nothing about it, the legal assumption is that you enjoyed it and you lose your right to complain further down the line.

So, really, what is wrong with tax evasion in Italy when everyone is doing it, hasn’t Mr. Berlusconi got a point there?

In truth Berlusconi is paying for his insubordination to the IMF and the Central Banks, for the time when he stood up to not implement further austerity a few years ago because it was not politically justifiable or viable for him, mind you, he never had the interest of the country or of the people at heart, it was a personal popularity concern he had with the IMF and the Central Banking system, which led to him being asked to resign for the underage prostitution case and was then replaced by a technical government, one technically entitled to implement all of the IMF and Central Banking system suggestions and look where it took us, we now have a lower public debt (meaning we owe the banks less in interest on the usury we have grown accustomed to) and an impoverished nation with starving children.

Mr. Berlusconi made the mistake to underestimate the powers that are running the show, he believed he had amassed enough money to be safe from harm, instead, when push came to shove, his men left him for an ‘higher call’, they said the interest of the country was paramount and had to come before his personal interests (which translates in ‘we are all set here and we don’t need you anymore, thankyouverymuch’) plus they knew he had made enemies too powerful to stand by him without going down together and so they let him sink alone, with just a few die hard followers who could not be recycled anywhere if they left his tail.

What did he leave behind? A clean politics fit to bring back employment in Italy and some semblance of a solution?

No, those left behind are still cut out of the same cloth, they are those that want to impose austerity on a country on its knees, those that  have sold out our industries, privatized our utilities and are now in the process of selling off what belongs to all, transforming the real bricks and mortar into imaginary numbers to satisfy a make belief spreadsheet, the SPREAD was never about numbers, was about how willing we were to bend down and let Politics do its numbers while shifting every conceivable wealth from the bottom to the top.

Meanwhile we have become the resigned ones, they must be doing all this on purpose, some days I imagine our politicians having meetings in which they roll on the floor laughing for what they come up with, they work hard to make us disillusioned and disgusted by Politics – and yet, if we give in THAT specific power, that is when we have lost it all, we have lost our Mind if we give up.

What is going on is our responsibility, we are here just like everyone else, we are equally responsible to those empowered to screw us, because We empowered them, yesterday I saw a mother on TV who is now in the Senate with the 5 Star Movement, saying just this, that she doesn’t take the Guilt Trip offered by Berlusconi who wrote in his letter to the M5Star ‘ if you now go ahead and vote to cast me out you are in fact killing Democracy and this will be a Shame you will have to Live with’ and she said ‘NO, we will vote you out because we are in a Democracy and I would have felt ashamed if I had not participated to change the way things are, if I didn’t stand up to come and tell you all that it’s Enough, that would be shameful, but I left my job to stand here and make sure I don’t leave to my children this world as it is, because it sucks and we allowed it to get this far and it’s up to us all to correct it now.’

If you believe Life is a Human Right, if you are tired of being entertained by Court Jesters who keep up the magic tricks  pretending to change things while they keep reshuffling powers and wealth among themselves (except when one gets thrown out in the street like Berlusconi – but we’ll survive that), stand up, consider our proposal, spread the word, become part of the decision, because We Are The ones That Decide if we take another dish from the Monopoly Kitchen or if we set up our own, a kitchen that will feed all equally, a system that consider all its parts not in terms of profit but in terms of needs it’s possible, it’s doable, we just have to say so.

Living income guaranteed for All is Here, say ENOUGH and stand for it as part of the Change you want to see in this World.
