Day 442: Boosting our GDP with Sex, Drugs and RocknRoll

Sex, drugs and smuggling could give Italy’s economy a much-needed economic boost this year, as national statisticians incorporate the country’s underground markets into its calculations.

The Italian National Institute for Statistics said it would include drugs, prostitution and smuggling in its calculation of Italy’s 2014 GDP recalculation, which should help Prime Minister Matteo Renzi achieve his dream of narrowing the country’s deficit to 2.6 percent of the GDP, according to Bloomberg.

“The size of the shadow economy might have surprised some readers if they had seen these estimates two or three years ago,” they wrote. However, the recent Euro crisis “has shone a spotlight on problems in these countries with regard to tax collection and compliance and the problems are more widely known.”

Economists generally consider a “shadow economy” to include any unregistered economic activities that would contribute to the officially calculated gross national product if the activities were recorded. This includes everything from prostitution and arms trafficking to a neighborhood lemonade stand or employee discounts.

In Italy, this kind of activity accounts for roughly 20 percent of its total GDP, but these illegal activities account for roughly 18 percent of the entire European Union economy, according to a study by economists Friedrich Schneider and Colin Williams.

We are having more and more problems with trying to fit our imaginary economics models to reality and this is proven by the questionable, if not laughable, solutions we seek.

The estimate of the shadow economies of the world is always undervalued, who would like to face the fact that our illicit activities in Italy surpass our gross domestic product by double? No one.

And yet, those that have taken the time to really look into our shadow economy and include ALL THE fifty shades of gray of it, could not come up with anything less.

An illicit activity is just one not accounted for, and it is not legal, meaning it doesn’t follow the Law Scheme that we have designed in protection of the wealthy and powerful of the world; at the moment we don’t want to raise any moral question on what is illicit in an immoral world because many of these activities are what is left for some to participate in to Make a Living, aka prostitution, drugs, smuggling etc.

But there is another huge side to our illicit activities made up of bribes and illegal endeavours we are too ashamed or wary to count in, like untaxed profits hidden away in fiscal paradises by privileged corporations or individuals, or like the huge traffic of toxic waste, the sales of weapons to countries we have agreed should not have access to them (such as those that we come together and decide should not be in the dangerous position to defend and protect themselves and that should never by any means pose a threat to us while we threaten them under pretences such as democracy or freedom) and many other government secret programs which, by their very secret nature, cannot expose and account for their spending into the ‘mainstream economy’.

The point that it’s interesting to me about this whole story is that we are seeking to raise our GDP to increase our public spending, which is now tied into a ratio whose threshold seems made of a stonewall that can’t be overtaken, changed or amended in any way by rational people, even in the face of an austerity we can no longer bear.

Maybe it’s because we don’t have ‘rational people’ anywhere at the top -or at the bottom-, the ‘rational’ ones can’t be on top, we can see the random ones that come with common sense, like senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, made to look like loony bins when they attempt to expose some of the gross and unacceptable inequalities of the system we live in, we live in a world where rationality is feared and exposed. Rationality as in what would be best for all is simply abhorred.

This is because those exposures are rare, nonexistent for the most part, so much so that when one comes and ‘tells it like it is’ we almost feel offended – how dare he/she- and start making up names to define him/her, to defile him/her, to make sure we degrade any effort put forward for real change.

Now, this decision to boost our economy with sex, drugs and illicit activities, so we can have access to more funds, is just ridiculous, first because the economy will not increase in size for real but an underwater part of it, already existing and participating at all effects in the money movement, will be taken into account just for the futile purpose of moving numbers on paper, second because we keep forgetting that whatever we are currently subjected to, including amusing economic models which have no connection to reality, all those make belief restrictions have been created by ourselves, all the prisons we are now attempting to escape one way or another are just ideas that have become models and then have become beliefs and we hold the key to change anytime we agree on something else ‘en masse’.

So, if we don’t raise an eyebrow pondering how we are planning to get more access to funds vs just asking that the current ratio limiting us from moving be raised simply because it’s currently not reasonable nor sustainable (while we work on dismantling for good what is obviously not working anyhow, in any way), and do not raise an eyebrow in questioning why if the submerged economy amounts to a declared 20% of our GDP we include only 3% just to get the approval to further spending and not the whole 20% or why not talk about the real 200% and wonder how did we get there in the first place, we have to ask ourselves why can’t we take a leap into the new from our shenanigans as we admit that we are just screwing around with meaningless numbers for the purpose of keeping everything in place as it is.

Many new economics models and proposals are emerging, proposals that consider Life above everything else and economics at its service, as it should always have been, we don’t need to raise imaginary numbers to walk through an imaginary crack in the system, we need to review this system, it’s not working and what we are doing can’t be sustained nor it should.

Seek solutions, ponder new ways we could make this world work, only when we will embrace a new vision we may take the required steps to walk it through to completion, by giving unconditionally what we would like for ourselves, access to a life worth living – for All.

Check out our Living Income Guaranteed Proposal, we can make it real, we were the designers of our outdated and unequal economic models and, as we awaken to the need to include all, we can redesign our world in support of Life, freeing everyone from the dam-nation of imaginary debt and make belief restrictive and inhumane economics. Day 411: Italy and Our Manufactured Paper-Mache Leaders

This boy is Matteo Renzi, our Prime Minister, he is our third unelected leader in a row, he is filling a seat, an image, a role, he is role-playing the idea of democracy and a democratic state and embodies change, he is our own Obama scam, where ‘CHANGE’, the master password to activate us to vote, has been repeated long enough to fulfil the plans and prophecy of those that rushed him into this position, least the people would go ahead and get themselves a self-elected movement like the 5 Star movement for Real Change.
We pretend to change it all to make sure nothing changes at all.

No one complained, many barely even noticed, we have become so removed from the governance of ourselves and of our own country at this stage that we’ll take anyone, anytime, any way they give it to us.

Matteo Renzi  is full of good intentions – and some crap-, he came up on top by 40% of votes at the latest European elections by promising the Italians Change and 80 euro extra at the end of the month – that’s change isn’t it, 80 euro…-, a pizza for a family of 4, with dessert, times are bad here, 80 euros? We’ll take it, you have my vote, man.

An expert is politics was commenting that we, Italy, are part of a big experiment to see how long it takes to turn the most productive and eclectic country in the world into a rat hole, because if this system can successfully do it to Italy, where 70% of all the world’s art lies in disregard, the rest of the world will be a piece of cake. I don’t know about that and cannot comment, if I did I would have to wonder if there is a war going on that we have not taken notice of, if we are under siege and soon we’ll be under water with a straw from which we can try to breathe, we are being stripped of the democratic rights we never had, basic necessities, forced to look at unimaginable levels of corruption, consistently scared by violence and atrocious acts reported in the news or shown in movies, we have to acknowledge that we have no justice or hope for it, no human rights of any kind (our water utilities went up quietly for sale last week-end, even though we had a public referendum against it a few years back underlining for those that didn’t get it that we don’t count at all) and we have to face the fact that our imaginary ‘Public Debt‘ is more important than the lives of real flesh and bone people.
This system is spelling out outright that we are worthless, soon to be useless and we finally believe it.

My mum last week told me that she lives in a constant state of fear for the future  and she used to be a brave woman, imagine the state of the rest of the country.

Matteo Renzi was preparing to run for elections at the end of the mandate of his friend Enrico Letta, there was no rush because Letta was from his same party, the Democrats, PD,  plus Renzi had always said that he would never, never- ever, sit in office within an unelected government.

He had said as well that he would never negotiate a deal with Berlusconi, mainly because Berlusconi who is still the Leader of the third political party in Italy is a criminal at ‘house arrests’, not a big deal because at his age he was told he would not do the 4 years he has been condemned to, but just 9 months of service going once a week to help the elders, leaving him plenty of time to run his party, have meetings, plan strategies and go on TV shows as part of his human rights claim (?). What is life without the ability to appear on a TV show to speak about his dog Dudu and his girlfriend who is 50 years younger than him – simply unimaginable.

Needless to say Renzi had a change of heart and drafted the new election law with Berlusconi, only Berlusconi had an interest in being in the limelight as a key player of our political play field, plus he wanted to make sure he would draft an Election Law ad hoc, to suit himself, because this is the way we do politics in Italy and have been doing since we have become a make-believe republic and way before that.

Then he said he would never steal Enrico Letta’s place, the hashtag #enricostaycool is now infamous in Italy as a result, if someone tells you to stay cool – you have to worry – a lot.
Three days later there was a coup inside the PD party, they had their own Primary elections, Renzi won and took office the next day, unelected, within an unelected party; watching Letta slide against the walls on his way out of Parliament after shaking hands with Renzi while refusing to look at him in the eyes was not something that spelled out ‘integrity’ was now taking office, nor honesty, nor transparency and wait, not even legality.

The point Renzi is not seeing is that those that rushed him to power and made sure to make him do things he himself is not happy to live with, that told him to go ahead, that he won’t fail given  he is so energetic, so well organized, so charismatic, boosting his ego until it burst at the seams without telling him to watch out, to not be so boastful or he will burn himself, they instead milked this side of him so as to prepare his fall, delighting in how this young boy will hang himself with the rope they gave him to play with, sparing the puppet masters from having to come up with the ‘how to get rid of him’ in the future when people will see through the lies and demand ‘REAL CHANGE’ again and the puppet master will dutifully manufacture another paper-mache leader for us to keep up the illusion of democracy and we’ll take him because this is the nature of what we have become, numb, apathetic, disinterested and allow me to say this, just plain stupid.

It would be logical, rational, to see a pattern in our ruling governments if we could open up our eyes for once, there is no left or right, there is instead a war going on for the control of this system that starts with our own minds to levels never seen before, we have no one to blame for this but ourselves, abdication of responsibility creates leaders, if we cannot lead ourselves we must be led, if we show disinterest, if we take the hook of enter-tainment vs participation in this world we can’t connect the dots, we cannot see patterns because the show that is going on is a magick show, and it’s tailored made for us, it’s based on our vices, desires, fears, it’s based on who we are and what we have become, beings that are not able to come together yet and decide that this world must change for all, that life must be given and not earned, suffered, struggled for, we have given up our right to Life as we gave up on standing up for the lives of all, equally.

We have a proposal, it is to give a Life to each and every person on the planet, for free, a Living Income Guaranteed, because the moment we put a price on Life we de-valued it, we stripped Life of dignity and integrity and as we give or do not, so we live, this is why We must change ourselves and not rely on the show that goes on around us to bring about the Change we need.

We propose a principled living, we propose to return Value to Life for all living beings, we can’t go on with not considering all pieces of the equation, we are all the pieces, time to come together in one piece/peace to create a world that works for all. Join us – in principle.

Day 374: The Politics of Zombies

For those who have been following Italian Politics, the latest news were that Berlusconi was out, confined to his palace under house arrest and unable to sit in Parliament any longer.

People had parties when that happened, the illusion of democracy and of having been able to cast aside the old for something new was too electrifying to pass without a celebration.

What people did not realize was that it was never by the will of the people that he was finally -apparently- ousted, he had been cast aside by those who were much better versed into Politics than he was, those that knew that their word should mean nothing and that Politics should be considered a game at lies and cheating, so, sadly, those left behind were not better than Berlusconi, they were just less bold and crass at making sexist jokes and playing hide and seek with Angela Merkel, but not more honest, please.

Now, onto the new phase of Italian Democracy, where the new elected leader of the democratic party, Matteo Renzi, just invested of his new role as The Bringer of Solutions decided to pair up with Berlusconi (not as a chamber representative since he is now chamber-less but as the head of the party he was left with after the internal schism within his old one) to finally deliver the new elections Law, something that the people have been demanding since the latest revision of an existing law, a law that was considered an abomination and ruled unconstitutional leaving Italy at a stand still for public suffrage.

This is how we ended up with a broad-based coalitions government which has constantly bickered and struggled to produce reforms.
Impressive show of how to glue oneself to a chair that was not designed to just be occupied by ‘asses’ but demanded an active participation -in theory- for the welfare of the people.

For changes to happen reforms will have to be taken all the way into parliament to re-open democracy to the people, we are currently excluded from any decision-making, our current elections law are making sure the people are effectively cut out from politics and the political scene even more than at the time of Mussolini. And Mussolini was a socialist and a reformer who had the welfare of the people at heart and who made most of the social reforms that we have been losing one by one under this pretentious and unjust Oligarchic Regime, where Money and Profit rule and nothing else matters. Imagine that.

Isn’t it ironic that it was Milton Friedman who said that it is a mistake to judge policies and programs by their intentions rather than their result? So, what can we say after a century of good intentions about Free Markets ideals and Capitalism that delivered no result? Thanks for the good intentions, can we now have programs and models that work in the real physical plane rather than fictional models that have no connection to the world we live in and the undeniable dreadful results they bore so far?

Let’s be clear about the fact that Politics should be everyone’s business and concern, it is through our direct participation that we can reform our systems and we should stop to be blinded by meaningless words such as Freedom and Democracy. If people can’t stand up and demand a different system because this one isn’t working, there is no Freedom and no Democracy and naming parties exploiting the sentimental values of these words should be forbidden and the manipulation of the people should end, because there can’t  be politics without the people as politics was always and only meant to be the representation of We The People at work, to care for the interests of all and not just a bunch who have accumulated all the wealth, leaving the rest of the world with the crumbs and sometimes not even that.

If you want to see changes in this world, you must get involved, those who have the power in their hands have no interest in letting it go to those that don’t even demand it.

And if you don’t stand up, we’ll keep having zombies driving the system like Berlusconi, a dead man walking, resurrected just for a final blow to the Democracy we never had and to the voice of those that believe they have no power to change anything and have, as was originally masterminded, just given up.

Don’t give up, Stand up for change in this world, check out a Living Income Guaranteed, when everyone will have their right to Life declared a basic Human Right and fear and survival will no longer be our motivating driving forces, then and only then we’ll see what we are really capable of doing and what kind of world we can rethink when all are provided for in their basic Human needs.
